Young Electric (originally known as Young Electrical Control Systems) was founded in 1992 by John Young. Having worked in the industrial sector as a journeyman and master electrician for many years doing both maintenance and installation work, John Young began educating himself with new automation and control systems software and hardware. Eventually he became a project engineer for control and automation systems. After working for other firms, he became convinced that he could best meet customers' needs by having the freedom to perform the quality of work he wanted to provide.

In early 1992, he formed Young Electric and began working in the industrial automation and energy management arena. Business quickly built up and the need for control panel builders and installation personnel became evident. Having skilled licensed electricians available offered more opportunities for expanded electrical services and so began the Young Electric name.

Now, although still very involved and growing in the controls and automation business, Young Electric, Inc. has evolved into a full service electrical contracting company specializing in residential and commercial service, commercial and industrial contracting, and industrial automation and control. Besides the wide range of work performed in the Wichita area, the company works in several states.

In 1997 a satellite operation was started in Dodge City, Kansas to facilitate growing work in the beef packing industry.

In summary, Young Electric continues to grow and evolve as it strives to position itself as one of the premier electrical contracting and service firms in the area. The Wichita based company continues to expand an ever widening menu of services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the south central Kansas area and beyond.
